We’re Sophie and James, the founders of CREATE+REFLECT.

CREATE+REFLECT was born from a shared belief that creativity can open the door to meaningful conversations about faith, purpose and life. We wanted to create a welcoming space where anyone – whether they’re exploring Christianity for the first time, have been following Jesus for years, or simply enjoy reflecting on life’s bigger questions – can create, connect and be part of an honest conversation.

Sophie is a graphic designer with over 10 years of running her own studio, and has always found creativity to be a powerful way of processing ideas and telling stories. After becoming a Christian in 2025, she discovered that making art helped her engage with scripture and explore a whole new worldview in ways that words alone couldn’t.

 

This led her to start a monthly Art as Worship group at her local church, where people gather to reflect on a passage of scripture before responding creatively together. The depth of conversation, sense of community and enthusiastic response to these sessions inspired the creation of an evening group that more people could attend, and so CREATE+REFLECT began.

James joined Sophie in leading CREATE+REFLECT, bringing with him an infectious enthusiasm for both creativity and faith. Also relatively new to following Jesus, James is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans sculpture, woodwork, blacksmithing and videography. He describes his recent creative practice as being inspired and led by the Holy Spirit, and is passionate about using creativity to help people encounter Christ. His warmth, joy and encouragement help make every session an inspiring and welcoming experience.

Together, we believe creativity has a unique way of bringing people together. It gives us permission to slow down, ask questions, notice things we might otherwise miss, and discover fresh perspectives.

 

Whether you’ve picked up a paintbrush hundreds of times or never before, you’ll find a relaxed, supportive environment where there’s no pressure to create something “good” – just an invitation to explore, reflect and connect with others.
